When Maithili Sharan Gupta, a famous Hindi poet, wrote years ago:
“Abla Jeevan Hai Teri Yehi Kahani, Aanchal mein hai doodh aur aankhon mein paani”
(What is the life of a helpless woman — tears in her eyes and a suckling child in her lap),
he had portrayed a rather helpless image of women. That was many, many years ago.
While women have since emerged stronger and achieved everything a man could, atrocities against them have not ended — they have only changed shapes. Society is going through turbulent times where the new woman is breaking barriers, questioning the patriarchal mindset, and evolving into a stronger pillar of society — a change that perhaps makes the chauvinist Indian male insecure.
“Offence is the best form of defense” — this may explain why insecure men commit crimes against women.
This Women’s Day, let’s pledge to celebrate every woman who has found her voice and believes that in a healthy social system she must be respected and regarded as an equal, nothing less, nothing more.
Let’s also pledge to give hope and support to every woman who has been victimized because she refused to compromise her values.
A woman is not “Abla” (helpless), but “Sabla” — one with courage and conviction, strong enough to bring about positive change in society.
A haunting visual from the Sabla series — a cry for strength and resilience against fear, silence, and oppression.
A powerful frame from the Sabla series — capturing the weight of silence and the resilience to overcome it.
A poignant Sabla frame — the birdcage becomes a symbol of confinement, yet the spirit remains unbound.
This haunting Sabla portrait captures the duality of pain and defiance — scars that speak of suffering, and raised hands that declare survival and strength.
This Sabla artwork uses dice as a metaphor for women’s struggles — lives gambled, voices silenced, yet resilience holding the power to change destiny.

Lahron se darrkar nauka paar nahi hoti, Koshish karne walon ki haar nahi hoti. Nanhi chinti jab daana lekar chalti hai, Chadhati deewaron par sau baar fisalti hai. Mann ka vishwas ragon mein saahas bharta hai, Chadhkar girna, girkar chadhna na akharta hai. Aakhir uski mehnat bekaar nahi hoti, Koshish karne walon ki haar nahi…
Aap, aap kya jaane mujhko samajte hai kya? Main to kuch bhi nahi. Is kadr pyar itni badi bheed ka main rakhunga kahan? is kadr pyar rakhne ke kaabil nahi Mera dil meri jaan mujhko itni mohabbat na do doston mujhko itni mohabbat na do doston Soch lo doston is qadr pyar kaise sambhalunga main…
Dongri, Mumbai ki roohani virasat ka ek aham hissa hai Haji Abdul Rehman Shah Baba Dargah. Har saal manaya jaane wala Urs Mubarak sirf ek mazhabi jashn nahi, balki mohabbat, barkat aur insaaniyat ka paighaam hai. 2009 se lekar aaj tak, maine apni lens ke zariye is Urs ki rooh ko sametne ki koshish ki hai — kabhi timelapse me…
Kolkata jaane ke theek ek din pahle .. main apni mummy (jo ki Dementia patient hai) ke paas gaya aur unse kaha ki Humayunn: Mummy main Kolkatta kisi kaam se jaa raha hoon. Mummy: Kolkatta .. Kitne din? Humayunn: 6 dino ke liye jaa raha hoon … (she turns sad when she hears 6 din)…
Mumbai aur main — dono ke beech ek judaai ka rishta hai. Is sheher ka har kona, har monument apni kahani rakhta hai. Aur jab yeh hi landmarks tirange ki roshni me jagmagate hain, toh sirf ek sheher nahi, balki ek mulk ka jazba zinda ho uthta hai 🇮🇳✨ Gateway of India, CST, Marine Drive…
Sometimes a picture says a thousand words, but sometimes, a few words can give a picture its soul. These are fragments of my journey — portraits captured in different moments of life, paired with thoughts that inspire me to move forward. I call them my Photo Quotes — a blend of imagery and reflection.
