Gateway of India, Mumbai — a vintage-style photograph by Humayunn Peerzaada, depicting the iconic monument with a bustling crowd beneath a cloudy sky and birds soaring above.

Gateway of India, Mumbai – India

The Gateway of India was erected to commemorate the landing of King George V and Queen Mary in India on the 2nd of December, 1911.

This iconic monument has recently been given a fresh look. The garden opposite has been cleared, offering tourists more space to move freely and admire the architectural beauty of this landmark.

Shooting a video here was a unique experience for me. Unlike my usual photography style, time-lapse required me to stay at one location, continuously capturing for 15–20 minutes. Though not my usual approach, it was a different high — documenting such an illustrious landmark in a dramatic way and compressing hours into minutes.

Here it is — 15 minutes of the Gateway of India beautifully captured in a 2 minute 55 second time-lapse video.
